On 11th November, 2020 (time:11am to 12:pm) IEI-IEM Students' Chapter, Electrical Engineering Department has successfully arranged a webinar on “Energy and environment problems facing the third world and their probable solutions for sustainable development and poverty alleviation” by esteemed author Prof. Dr D.P. Kothari, who has authored/edited more than 60 books for engineering students and research scholars, guided more than 50 PhD students, have been awarded the Certificate of Merit four times by the Institution of Engineers (India) for joint papers (nos.16, 180, 255 and 283 in the listen closed). Most Active Researcher Award, VIT University, Vellore, 31st August 2008. Moreover, he had been nominated for Padma Shri, had been awarded with the Bharat Samman Achievement Award by education council of India, New Delhi.
In this session speaker explained about energy generation, energy management and energy conservation. He also explained how new renewable energies have has significant impact on all over the world and due to the current power sector scenario the challenges faced for grid integration. Finally he has lightened up the probable solutions along with the future opportunities.
The webinar was a grand success for the organizers as they received an overwhelming response from the students and faculty members of Electrical Engineering Department of IEM including HOD of Electrical Department, IEM. It was the result of heartiest effort of the chapter's faculty advisor Prof. Debashis Jana and the cooperation of the Core Working Committee members. At the end of the session students were allowed to interact with our speaker and clear their doubts in the Q&A round.
